Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
Minimum of 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
AHA BLS & ACLS certifications required
Must work at least every other holiday
ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation

Required Experience

Specialty Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Surg Telemetry experience (highest requirement)
Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Training Requirements

Mandatory:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Additional Preferred/Required Certifications:
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but not required
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required
Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing during orientation
Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months and updated annually
Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing

Licensure & Background Checks

Permanent Ohio RN license or compact state license required
Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required
Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually
State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months and updated annually
Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually

Documentation & Compliance

Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for orientation testing

Additional Notes

Candidates must complete all onboarding modules before clearance to start
Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months may need to re-complete modules
Fingerprinting will also be conducted at the facility in addition to agency process
Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, who are comfortable working night shifts and meeting comprehensive health, certification, and compliance requirements.
