Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Telemetry)

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • 36 beds, patient ratio 1:6
  • Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
  • Patient population ranges from young adult to geriatric
  • Focus on cardiac care patients recovering from interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant
  • Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in specialty
  • Previous travel experience required (first-timers not accepted)

Work Schedule

  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Telemetry experience with at least 2 years, including experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with Epic

Licensure

  • Primary source online verification required

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must renew annually
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Background and Documentation

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education verification required (highest level)
  • Work history verification for 7 years
  • Driver’s license or state ID required
  • I9 and E-Verify compliance required

Additional Notes

  • No local candidates accepted from specified surrounding counties
  • Clear headshot photo required for badge
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • References not required for clearance but recommended

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a cardiac-focused unit and meet the comprehensive certification and compliance requirements.
