Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) - 20 bed critical care unit
- Care for critically ill patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, acute/chronic kidney failure, liver failure, overdoses, septic shock
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2-3 (days and nights)
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including potential float to Bellevue campus and various other units
Work Schedule & Requirements
- 36 or 48 hour shift options
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
- Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday
- Weekend nights: Friday night and Saturday night
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Return to Office (RTO) blackout dates: 6/11/26 - 6/22/26 due to College World Series
- Up to two weeks of RTO permitted, requests must be submitted with application
Experience & Certifications
- Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital
- First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
- Drip experience required on all floors
- EPIC charting experience required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must be prepared to float frequently
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Locals NOT accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
- Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking will be delayed six weeks
- Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
Team Composition
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics
- LPNs assigned on some floors
Compliance & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start, including federal enhanced search
- SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Education verification required
- State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required
- Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required
- Annual skills checklist required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years required
- Physical exam, fit mask test, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Varicella), drug screen, and TB testing required and must be current
- Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
