Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Weekend overnight block shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Pediatric (PEDS) experience required
  • Floating and weekend availability required
  • Unit does NOT accept first-time travelers
  • Scrub colors: Any color accepted
  • Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge in use of all x-ray equipment and performance of all x-ray protocols and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Radiology / Cardiology specialty
  • ARRT - Radiography certification required (will accept temporary LSRT while permanent ARRT is processed)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • Prior travel experience required (unit does not accept first-time travelers)

Certifications (may be required depending on unit)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) for Pediatric ER
  • Other certifications as applicable to radiology and cardiology tech roles

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes comprehensive panel)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (recent testing required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Must be able to work weekend overnight shifts consistently
  • Must be flexible to float to other units as needed
  • Temporary LSRT accepted but permanent ARRT must be obtained within 3-5 days of application processing
  • Strict adherence to facility policies including employee appearance and compliance with all required certifications and documentation
