Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Evening/Night shifts (1900-0730)
  • 8 or 12-hour shifts
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation
  • No on-call required

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, etc.
  • ICU experience with adult populations is required.
  • Flexibility to work with IMC/Progressive/General care populations as needed.
  • Experience working in an Academic Level 1 Trauma Center is required.
  • Must be willing to float to different units or locations based on staffing needs.
  • Must have completed a travel assignment of at least 13 weeks previously.
  • Must have at least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years.
  • Epic electronic health record experience required, preferably within the last 12 months.
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass a Telemetry test prior to start.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association only.
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience and successful completion of Telemetry test.
  • Prior travel experience required: must have completed at least one prior travel contract of 13 weeks.
  • Minimum 2 years acute care experience within last 3 years (higher experience requirement prevails).

  • Magnet® certified hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center.

  • Supports Shared Governance model.
  • Floating is expected; travelers are first to float to other units as needed.
  • Permanent address must be within 50 miles of the work site.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including SSN trace, nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific caregiver screening.
  • Education verification as applicable.
  • Drug screening per Vaya standard.
  • Physical exam (collected to meet Aya standard).
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • BLS, ACLS certifications
    • TB testing and questionnaire
    • MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B vaccination or exemption documentation
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually)
    • Other vaccines as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
  • Telemetry testing: Adult and Pediatric Telemetry exams required and must be passed prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
  • Signed orientation safety manual acknowledgment and pass/fail testing acknowledgment for telemetry.

Additional Notes

  • Parking permit required if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available.
  • Photo for badge required (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
  • Strict testing and remediation process for telemetry exams with up to 3 attempts allowed.
  • References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required (Aya standard).
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
