Job Opportunity: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Telemetry

Shift Details

• Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every third weekend required
• Float required

Patient Population and Unit Details

• Med/Surg and Telemetry preferred
• Patient diagnoses include elective joint replacements, fractures, trauma, back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomy, seizures, and strokes
• Unit will expand to 48 beds within the next year
• Charge nurse assigned every shift
• Telemetry patients included
• Limited medication drips (gtts)
• No moderate sedation or close reductions
• Equipment used includes bucks' traction and hoyer lifts

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of LPN / LVN experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• IV Certification valid in or accepted by Missouri
• Proficiency in heparin drips
• Proficiency in IV starts
• Telemetry experience
• Med/Surg experience
• Experience with Epic documentation

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Current Missouri LVN/LPN license with primary source verification within 30 days of start
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC, must state "Basic Life Support")
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
• IV Certification valid in or accepted by Missouri
• NIH Stroke Certification (annual requirement for acute hospital LVN/LPNs)
• Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with a passing score of 84% or higher (two attempts allowed except ICU which is one attempt only)
• Pass/Fail testing on EKG/Medication as applicable
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Annual Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• NURSYS verification required

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start including:

  • National criminal check
  • State and county searches (10 years, all aliases)
  • SSN trace with all aliases
  • National Sex Offender check
  • FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM
  • HHS/OIG
• Education verification with official transcript or diploma including graduation date
• Missouri EDL Search required within 30 days of start
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes multiple substances)
• Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
• Fit mask testing completed onsite at orientation
• Immunizations/vaccinations or documented immunity required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine (declinations not accepted; medical/religious exemptions require mask-wearing during flu season)
• TB screening (PPD, Q-Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year and updated annually; if positive, chest x-ray and questionnaire required

Additional Facility Requirements

• Candidate must review and sign confidentiality agreement and code of conduct
• Complete demographic form prior to start
• Complete agency nurse orientation quiz with a minimum score of 84%
• AVADE onsite training required if extending past initial contract (varies by unit)
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years of start
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• Verification of most recent employer required

This position is ideal for experienced LVN/LPNs with recent Med/Surg experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a telemetry setting and meet all certification and compliance requirements. Prior travel experience is required (no first-time travelers).
