Job Opportunity: Histology Tech

Location: Glenview, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts of 8 hours each, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 24 (Part-Time)

Job Description

• Must have MOHS experience (please confirm before applying).
• No on-call or weekend requirements.
• Meal break length: 30 minutes.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Histology Technologist.
• Histology Technologist experience within the last year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in biological science, or Associate Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• HT(ASCP) Histotechnician certification or ability to complete once eligible.

Licensure & Certifications

• Must hold the appropriate license/certification for Histology Tech (HT(ASCP) preferred).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is not required for Histology Techs.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming good health and no physical limitations.
• Fit mask test (3M Aura 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually (not required for Histology Tech).
• Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required within 10 years; TD not accepted).
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers negative/equivocal.
  • Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers negative/equivocal.
  • Hepatitis B: Completed vaccine series or positive IgG titer; declinations accepted with signed documentation.
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season.
  • COVID-19 initial vaccine series or declination required.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility policy.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start; no instant or dilute results accepted.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and federal/state screenings required.
• Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprinting and eligibility verification required prior to start (must be completed in Illinois).

Additional Compliance & Facility Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific training modules prior to or shortly after start.
• Review and acknowledgment of privacy, confidentiality, information security, cannabis policy, sexual harassment training, and facility policies.
• Completion of required documentation such as welcome packet, parking instructions, and scanning technology consent.
• Accommodation request forms for vaccinations or fit testing must be submitted within 24-48 hours of contract signing if applicable.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum experience in molecular laboratory techniques and histology as described.
• No explicit years of experience stated; however, MOHS experience is mandatory.
• No prior travel experience required.
