Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work primarily on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with patient diagnoses including higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation, and post-heart catheterization.
• Care for step-down patients from ICU (no ventilators or pressor support).
• Manage drips such as heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotalol initiation.
• Telemetry monitoring required.
• Floating to similar units may be required.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend (subject to change based on need).

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty.
• Background check covering 7 years, including alias and multi-state/county searches, must be current within 12 months.
• E-Verify or attestation required.
• Federal and state sanction screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC) must be completed within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days.
• Education verification of highest level completed.
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands.
• Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5-panel minimum).
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (not required for remote workers)
• Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation.
• Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, light background, no obstructions).

Orientation and Training

• Completion of online Cornerstone modules (approx. 12 hours) within 72 hours of assignment.
• Pass/Fail testing for medication and arrhythmia competency exams required prior to orientation (two attempts allowed, 84% passing score).
• Annual competency exams and core training modules (Parts I, II, III) covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA, and patient safety goals.
• Floating policy acknowledgment may be required (not required for this specific location).

Additional Notes

• Unit will review first-time travelers based on experience.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• No ventilator or pressor support patients on this unit.
• Telemetry monitoring skills required.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend, may vary.
• Drug screen and background checks must be current and compliant with facility standards.
• All certifications must be valid and not expire within 30 days of start date.
