Registered Nurse - NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
Location: Spokane, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Job Details
- Position may float between units.
- No on-call required.
- Weekend shifts required, but variable schedule.
- No block schedules required.
- Patient ratios expected: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3.
- Coverage needed only through the end of September.
- 48-hour shifts approved.
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
- Total staffed beds: 629.
- Teaching hospital.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Free parking available.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates, valid within 1 year, updated annually.
- Immunizations and screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer, or signed declination.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series or signed declination.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer, or signed declination.
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination.
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection prevention measures.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
Compliance and Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 and state requirements).
- E-Verify attestation required.
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report.
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs.
- Background checks include EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches as required by Washington state law.
- Annual completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- Photo for badge with neutral background required.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.

- Reduced orientation: 0 hours non-billable orientation compared to standard 40 hours.
