Location: Claremont, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide nursing care in a long-term care setting, focusing on resident well-being and safety. Responsibilities include observing residents, administering medications and treatments, supervising nursing assistants, assisting with wound care, and supporting physicians during rounds. The role requires managing unit operations during shifts and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously observe residents for changes in mental and physical condition; communicate findings to supervisors and physicians.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered; document accurately using electronic systems.
- Supervise Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) and assign nursing tasks consistent with scope of practice.
- Assist with wound care, including knowledge of wound vacs, and administer oxygen and feeding tubes per policy.
- Monitor and maintain infection control practices and unit cleanliness.
- Admit, discharge, and transfer residents with proper documentation.
- Communicate with residents’ families regarding care and consent.
- Manage assigned unit during shift under direction of nursing leadership.
- Follow regulations for controlled medication storage, usage, and documentation.
- Assist with orientation, education, and evaluation of nursing staff.
- Attend mandatory and non-mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New Hampshire.
- Minimum 3 years of current nursing experience within the last 6 months.
- IV certification or willingness to obtain during onboarding.
- Willingness to float to other units as needed.
- COVID-19 vaccination required; no exemptions accepted.
- Must have own transportation due to rural location with limited public transit and housing options.
- Locals residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible.
- Previous travel nursing experience is highly preferred.
- Experience in rural or small facility settings is highly preferred.
Additional Information
- Dress code: Scrubs (matching top and bottoms).
- Overtime and callback pay policies apply (details available upon request).
- Orientation hours: 0 hours.
- Cancellation policy: Employer reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract.
- Flu vaccine: Annual seasonal flu vaccine required or declination with mask-wearing during flu season.
- Timecard process: Clock in/out electronically at the facility; no paper timecards signed by managers.
Work Environment
- Rural, small facility setting approximately 2 hours from Boston, MA.
- Facility provides 24-hour nursing care for residents requiring long-term and skilled nursing services.
- Emphasis on resident-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological needs.
