Registered Nurse (RN) - Rehabilitation Med/Surg (Nights)

Location: Windsor, Vermont
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care combining medical-surgical nursing with intensive rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, serious illness, or injury.
  • Focus on restoring function and independence through therapies (physical, occupational, speech) and specialized medical/nursing care, often in an inpatient setting.
  • May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
  • Coordinate total nursing care for patients and participate in patient and family teaching.
  • Provide leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel to maintain professional nursing standards.
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
  • Average daily patient census: 22.
  • EMR system used: Cerner.
  • Must be willing to float between Acute Rehab and Med Surg units as needed (within scope of practice).

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Hampshire or Compact RN license.
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing.
  • Charge RN experience required.
  • Prior travel experience required (at least 3 months).
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.
  • Supervisory reference from within the past two years required.
  • Medical Surgical skills checklist current to within 1 year required.
  • BSN strongly preferred.
  • Must have own vehicle (no public transportation available).
  • Local travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible.

Additional Information

  • No block scheduling or schedule accommodations will be considered.
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at the time of application; no requests after offer or interview will be approved.
  • Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed during the assignment.
  • Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance.
  • Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.
  • Small community setting with a 35-bed critical access hospital including a 25-bed medical-surgical unit and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
