Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) - Temp Position

Location: Harrisonville, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
• Utilize evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
• Administer procedures including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities and exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Report treatment outcomes and provide consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Document all required clinical and regulatory information accurately in electronic records.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings.
• Support and supervise students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
• Adhere to NBCOT, AOTA, and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.

Required Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) license for Missouri.
• Minimum 1 year of OTA experience required.
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings required.
• New graduates are acceptable if they have completed Level II fieldwork experience (not just Level I observation).

Additional Information

• Typical treatment times: ~1 hour for Medicare B patients; 30-35 minutes for Medicare A and Managed Care patients.
• Caseload typically ranges from 7-12 patients per day, fewer for evaluating therapists with evaluations scheduled.
• Group therapy is allowed and may be part of the productivity model.
• Therapists typically have dedicated devices for documentation.
