Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D) (Night Shift)

Location: Bellefontaine, Ohio

Job Description

• Perform head-to-toe patient assessments and reassessments according to policy.
• Assess and reassess pain using appropriate evaluation methods; utilize pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
• Develop, revise, and evaluate plans of care daily based on patient response.
• Provide age-appropriate care considering principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
• Administer medications correctly based on patient age and clinical condition, following the five medication rights to minimize errors.
• Formulate and implement teaching plans based on patient learning needs; include family as appropriate.
• Perform technical and manual nursing skills within scope of licensure; seek guidance when needed.
• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
• Serve as a liaison among administration, patients, physicians, and healthcare providers.
• Maintain a safe environment to reduce medical errors.
• Collaborate with other departments for an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Communicate clearly with unit director, co-workers, and physicians.
• Document care in compliance with current standards and policies.
• Safely operate and manage medical equipment.
• Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function in stressful situations.
• Maintain annual competencies, including bedside blood glucose waived testing.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience.
• Postpartum and nursery experience required.
• Active ACLS (American Heart Association) certification.
• Active BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
• Active NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license at time of submission.
• COVID-19 vaccination card required if vaccinated.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

Additional Information

• Workweek: Sunday through Saturday.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Meditech.
