Counselor - Chemical Dependency (Temp)

Location: Brasstown, North Carolina
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 8
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide treatment and casework services to patients with opioid use disorder, including methadone maintenance and detoxification treatment. Responsibilities include patient assessments, treatment planning, counseling, advocacy, documentation, and coordination with medical and regulatory agencies. Must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop/implement treatment plans per State OTP regulations.
  • Provide individual counseling and opiate addiction education.
  • Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment as needed.
  • Coordinate care and communicate patient status with the treatment team.
  • File and manage patient documentation, including urine analysis results.
  • Facilitate requests for take-home medications and dose adjustments.
  • Provide crisis intervention and patient advocacy with community and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in program evaluation, development, and counseling supervision sessions.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to professional and ethical standards.
  • Attend staff meetings and support organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Substance Use Counselor license in North Carolina
  • Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Substance Use Counselor, including experience within the last year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Additional Information

  • Dress Code: Business Casual
  • Electronic Medical Record system used: SAMMS
  • Must be present in the office during working hours for in-person meetings and computer access.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain positive interactions with staff and patients.
  • Travel as necessary.
