Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Overview

• Start: ASAP
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 7P-7A, 12-hour nights
• Hours per week: 36
• Location: Bangor, Maine

Unit Details

• Labor & Delivery unit with 7 labor rooms, 2 triage rooms, 2 OR suites, and 2 OBED triage rooms
• Level III NICU and Newborn Nursery on site
• Average volume: 1,800 deliveries per year
• May float to Mother-Baby, Antepartum, or Postpartum

Required Qualifications

• At least 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
• Not a first-time traveler; must have completed at least 1 assignment at a facility comparable in size and acuity
• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• Intermediate or Advanced FHM
• MOAB

Preferred Qualifications

• Charge experience

Key Responsibilities

• Titrate Pitocin
• Perform fetal scalp electrodes and cervical exams
• Assist CRNA with epidural placement
• Manage insulin drips and magnesium drips
• Manage shoulder dystocia
• Circulate c-sections and/or receive baby in the OR
• Perform neonatal resuscitation
• Assist with placement and monitoring of IUPC
• Provide lactation support and safe skin-to-skin care
• OB Tech duties include setup for vaginal deliveries, assisting with vaginal deliveries and repairs, OR setup and scrubbing during c-sections, patient transport, room stocking, handling sterile equipment, and secretarial duties as needed

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation required: at least 4 of 8 weekend shifts per schedule
• No call required
• Holiday rotation required
• RTO requires manager approval
