PACU Nurse - Contract in Hilo, Hawaii

Job Summary

Provide post-anesthesia care for patients in Phase I and Phase II recovery following surgery. This role requires advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills to monitor incision sites, body temperature, and other indicators of patient stability or complications.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Hawaii
• Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
• Minimum 2 years of critical care RN experience in emergency department or intensive care unit settings in a hospital
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Work Environment & Equipment

• Units: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU).
• Equipment used includes Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors.

Schedule

• Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours.
• Possible shifts include Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays.
• No guarantee of specific hours or shift preference.
• On-call shifts required 0-3 times per month (8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage).

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks.

Additional Information

• Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
• Candidates should not accept the start date if unable to arrive on time.
