Monitor Tech Job Opportunity

Location: Tacoma, Washington
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Overview

• Provide cardiac monitoring services remotely for 8 regional hospitals from an off-site office location.
• Monitor Tech to patient ratio: approximately 1:45-55 patients.
• Services provided 24/7.

Required Experience & Skills

• Must have prior Monitor Tech experience.
• Basic EKG interpretation training is required.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Good communication skills are essential.

Certifications

• Basic EKG interpretation training required.
• BLS certification is not required.

Patient Types

• All types including Obstetrics, Medical-Surgical Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM or 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM.
• Weekend shifts may be every other weekend.
• Holiday shifts as needed.
• No formal call or standby requirement, but may be needed occasionally.

Orientation & Training

• EKG test administered during orientation.
• EPIC electronic medical record training provided.
• 3 days of orientation.

Equipment & Technology

• Use of Philips and GE cardiac monitors.
• Communication via Vocera and Mobile Heartbeat systems.
• Electronic medical record charting with documentation of q6hr measurements and event interpretations.
• Alarm adjustments made per protocol.

Additional Notes

• On-site support includes break relief personnel and a Monitor Tech lead.
• Dress code: scrubs or business casual.
