ICU Registered Nurse (RN) - West Virginia

Location: Keyser, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an ICU Registered Nurse to provide care in a 4-bed ICU unit. The position requires working 12-hour shifts with a typical schedule including every-other-weekend coverage and holiday rotation. The ICU is staffed with 1 RN per shift, supported by a Patient Care Technician (PCT) and occasionally a MedSurg nurse may float in to assist.

Unit Details

• ICU with 4 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• EMR system: EPIC
• Charge Nurse covers MedSurg and takes patient assignments
• PCT support on both shifts
• Phillips cardiac monitors in each room and central monitoring station
• Typical ICU drips, ventilators (6 vents), intubation, and vasopressors
• Hospitalist and Intensivist in-house 7 days/week
• Night coverage (1900-0700) by Nurse Practitioner in-house 7 days/week
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Pharmacist in-house 8 hours/day with pharmacy tech support and remote pharmacist access
• No dedicated IV team
• Floating to MedSurg possible if comfortable

Shift Details

• 12-hour shifts: 0645 - 1915 or 1845 - 0715
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday work included in permanent staff rotation
• Floor-specific orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor

Patient Population

• COVID pneumonia
• Post-operative patients (orthopedics, urology)
• COPD, CHF
• Older adult population
• Typical MedSurg ICU patients

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Additional Requirements

• Must include a copy of an unexpired driver’s license with submission
• Disclose any licensing issues at time of submission
• Must be able to start within the next few weeks

Notes

• Scrub color: any color allowed
• No floating outside ICU unless comfortable
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required
