Travel Monitor Tech - Tele

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Central Monitoring Unit (CMU)
Average patients monitored daily: 336
Total unit staff: 65
Day Shift: 12 telemetry competent staff
Night Shift: 12 telemetry competent staff
Patient ratio: 40+ patients per monitor tech
Equipment: GE Carescape
EMR: Not applicable

Job Description

Monitor cardiac rhythms for a high volume of patients
Analyze and interpret heart rhythms
Build end-of-shift reports within GE Carescape system
Add and discharge patients from GE Carescape system
Communicate with floor staff via desktop phone and iPhone application
Maintain a running call log
Multi-task effectively in a high-stress environment
Cross-training on GE Carescape system and Cerner Patient Observer as Virtual Sitter Attendant

Schedule

12-hour shifts: 06:45-19:15 and 18:45-07:15
Unit huddle at 06:53 and 18:53
6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks
2 on-call shifts per 6 weeks
Holiday shifts required

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Monitor Technician
Monitor Technician experience within the last year
Completion of at least one travel assignment
Telemetry competency
Ability to analyze and interpret heart rhythms

Preferred Qualifications

CNA background
Cardiac nursing background
Medical terminology knowledge
ECG Board Certification
Previous experience with GE monitoring systems
