Clinical Dietitian - Travel Position

Job Summary

Collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide patients of all age groups and acuity levels with high-quality medical nutrition therapy following the Nutrition Care Process.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate the Academy Code of Ethics in all areas of practice.
• Screen and assess patients using established policies.
• Evaluate nutritional needs based on age, acuity, development, and disease specifics.
• Develop and implement nutritional plans of care.
• Provide individualized nutrition counseling to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of nutrition therapy interventions.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor to dietetic interns.
• Participate in department/hospital committees, performance improvement projects, and research.
• Act as a clinical resource to interdisciplinary team members.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics required.
• Completion of an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program.
• 1-2 years of hospital clinical nutrition experience preferred.

Licensure & Certification Requirements

• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist preferred or must pass Registration Examination for Dietitians within 3 months of hire.
• Licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation within 6 months of hire.
• Must obtain 75 CEUs within a 5-year period to meet CDR professional portfolio requirements.
• Employment contingent upon continued registration and licensure as a dietitian.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Completion of individualized training and ongoing competency assessments.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to document comprehensively using critical thinking.
• Reasoning, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with HCA software including Meditech and Computrition.
• Computer skills including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse healthcare team.
