Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Call Requirement: No call required
Unit Overview
- Unit: Medical-Surgical, 4 East
- Number of Beds: 32
- Number of Staff: 50
- Staffing (Night Shift): 1 charge nurse, 5 nurses, 2 patient care technicians (PCTs)
- Patient Ratios: 1:6 or 1:7 at night
- Equipment Used: PCAs, on-Q pumps, Hoyer lift, traction devices, wound vacs
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech
Typical Procedures on Unit
- Neurosurgeries (kyphoplasty, decompression, laminectomy)
- Fracture repairs and intramedullary (IM) nailing
- General surgery
- Bariatric surgery (gastric sleeve)
- Bladder sling procedures
- Hysterectomy
Required Qualifications
- Valid LPN/LVN license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification
- IV Therapy certification
- LPN/LVN Assessment or Pharmacology certification, or USP 800 Hazardous Drug Risk training
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Meditech charting
- Nursing skills including NGT tube care, IV placement, Foley catheter management
Work Environment & Culture
