Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Salem, Virginia

Travel contract
Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Department: Respiratory Therapy
Facility size: 500+ beds
Staff: Approximately 30 respiratory therapists
- Day shift: 6 therapists including charge person
- Night shift: 5 therapists including charge person
Patient care areas include CICU, SICU, MICU, and step-down units
Typical shift includes 3 rotating 12-hour weekend shifts (7 pm – 7 am)
Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs

Equipment and Systems

Equipment used: EPOC Blood Gases, PB 840, Newport, ReVel, LTV, V60 ventilators
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT), with experience within the last year
NBRC certification
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting

I come from the ICU so I don’t know if it was my lack of PCU experience but it feels like I have to BEG to the point of calling a rapid to have the residents and providers take initiative.
