Sterile Processing Technician CWR

Overview

• Central Supply Technician responsible for cleaning, processing, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation, patient care equipment, and reusable medical/surgical items.
• Also functions as a Case Cart Attendant for the Operating Room.
• Shift: Day, 10 AM - 6:30 PM.
• Schedule includes rotating shifts based on needs.

Required Qualifications

• Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year.
• 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPDT.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, process, assemble, or sterilize patient care equipment and surgical instruments according to departmental policies.
• Understand detergents and disinfectants used to process items and use Universal Precautions and proper PPE.
• Operate and load sterilizers, including Steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris.
• Ensure biological tests and Bowie Dick tests are performed, incubated, read, and recorded correctly.
• Complete sterilization records accurately, including item processing, label/load gun use, chemical integrator review, and computerized printouts.
• Use computerized instrument count sheets correctly.
• Prepare case carts for delivery to the room using doctor’s preference information.
• Notify the nursing team of missing items, confer with the coordinator about shortages, and complete a daily checklist.
• Lift at least 50 lbs, push and pull at least 60 lbs, and stand for the length of the shift.
