Job Description
- Use PACS system to transmit and print/burn CDs of patient imaging studies
- Transport and assist patients, including lifting and moving them
- File x-ray jackets and prepare charts for interventional procedures
- Obtain and enter patient demographics, financial data, and insurance information
- Provide patient preparation instructions for procedures
- Schedule exams for multiple imaging modalities: PT/CT, CT, MRI, NM, US, Angio, X-ray, Mammography
- Coordinate interventional case scheduling with radiologists and nurses
- Obtain authorizations and billing codes, assess medical necessity for Medicare patients
- Collect insurance, Medicare, and medical cards; comply with Medicare Secondary Payer and Three-day rule regulations
- Assist physicians with viewing images on PACS
- Perform clerical duties including scanning MD orders, preparing paperwork, consents, questionnaires, and identification bands
- Answer telephone calls professionally and courteously
- Assist with patient flow and sedation coordination for child/adult patients under anesthesiology
- Maintain knowledge and skills appropriate to patient population served
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in California
- Minimum of 2 years of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience as a CT Technologist
- Experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
- Experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
- Experience as an MRI Technologist
- Experience as an X-Ray Technician
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Knowledge generally acquired through a high school education or GED
Additional Information
- Must be able to communicate professionally on the phone
- Experience with patient registration and pre-registration processes
- Ability to handle multiple tasks including scheduling, documentation, and patient assistance
