Job Opportunity: Speech Therapist II

Location

• Newport Beach, California
• Work involves seeing patients in their homes
• Equipment provided (to be picked up from facility)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday
• 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• 40 hours per week (8 hours per day)

Job Description

• Assess patients for speech therapy needs
• Establish treatment goals and develop appropriate Speech Pathology treatment programs
• Review medical history and apply screening tests
• Collaborate with patients and families to create plans of care including therapy intensity, duration, and discharge recommendations
• Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers on therapy purpose, equipment use, home exercises, and activities
• Perform regular re-examinations and gather feedback from patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Manage multiple patients simultaneously
• Complete timely and accurate documentation in compliance with professional and regulatory standards
• Participate in continuing education and incorporate new knowledge into practice
• Assist with orienting new staff and act as clinical instructor for interns
• Conduct literature reviews and staff consultations as needed
• Attend clinical education courses meeting California Board of Physical Therapy guidelines and provide in-services to staff

Required Qualifications

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in California
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with geriatric patients
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
