Echo Technician - Contract
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)
Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Summary
The Echocardiographer is responsible for acquiring and interpreting various types of echocardiograms including m-mode, 2-D, pulse and continuous Doppler, color Doppler, contrast, and stress echocardiograms. This role involves completing echo worksheets and performing necessary calculations promptly. Care is provided to adult and geriatric patients, relying on professional training and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic duties and patient care functions related to echocardiography.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment.
- Assess adult and geriatric patients considering their physiological and anatomical needs.
- Explain procedures to patients before performing tests.
- Assist Cardiologists during procedures.
- Document all exams in patient medical records.
- Clean and maintain equipment and keep the work area stocked and clean.
- Assist with on-the-job training and evaluation of students and fellows.
- Participate in mandatory continuing education to maintain and enhance skills.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registry status as an Echocardiographer.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Echo Technician.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds routinely throughout the shift.
- Physical abilities including standing, walking, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, twisting, reaching, handling, kneeling, and fine motor skills.
- Ability to assist with patient lifting, ambulating, and transfers using wheelchairs, gurneys, beds, and mechanical lifts.
- Adequate speaking, hearing, and visual acuity to perform tests and interpret instructions.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills for safe patient care and documentation.
Continuing Education
- Required to maintain Current Registry status through continuing education, seminars, conferences, and training on new technology and best practices.
