Job Opportunity: Speech Language Pathologist

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Long Term Contract (Approximately 29 weeks)

Contract Length

• Approximately 29 weeks (interpreted as weeks based on value)
• Dates: January 12 or January 19, 2026 through July 31, 2026
• Full-time (1.0 FTE)

Schedule

• Monday to Friday
• 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Job Summary

Seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide evaluation and treatment for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders, including:

• Aphasia
• Right hemisphere cognitive deficit
• Moderate/severe traumatic brain injury (TBI)
• Dysarthria
• Dysphagia

Experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies is required. MBSimP certification is desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services using standardized and impressionistic techniques to evaluate patients with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders (e.g., aphasia, apraxia of speech, dysarthria, oropharyngeal dysphagia, reading/writing disorders, impaired perception, articulation disorders)
• Plan and administer speech-language, cognitive, and/or swallowing plans of care
• Document progress through daily notes and care plan summaries per department standards
• Provide education and counseling to patients and/or family members within the scope of speech pathology
• Complete initial evaluation and discharge documentation within 48 hours for outpatients; inpatient documentation on day of service
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, and ancillary team members to coordinate high-quality patient care
• Complete daily charge entry, inpatient check-in, and billing requirements as per department standards
• Coordinate patient care with clinical team members to ensure optimal care and communication
• Ensure excellent patient handoffs during case sharing or coverage periods
• Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and standards, including continuing education requirements

Qualifications

Education

• Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders

Licenses/Certifications

• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
• Speech Language Pathologist license with Minnesota Department of Health
• CPR certification for Healthcare Professionals

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of ASHA policies, procedures, practice standards, and counseling techniques
• Knowledge of documentation standards in speech pathology
• Ability to work cooperatively with medical team members
• Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Experience Requirements

• Experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies required
• No explicit years of experience stated; assume minimum standard for licensed SLPs with CCC certification

Prior Travel Experience

• No indication that prior travel experience is required

Additional Notes

• Position requires maintaining continuing education:

  • 30+ hours every 2 years for Minnesota Department of Health licensure
  • 30+ hours every 3 years for ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence maintenance
