Registered Nurse – Oncology (Travel)

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (8-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 40 hours guaranteed (except during holidays when unit is closed)
Start Date: ASAP

Job Overview

• Position is for the chemotherapy infusion room within an outpatient oncology clinic.
• The infusion room has 23 chairs/beds and serves approximately 40-60 patients per day.
• Patient ratio: about 8 patients throughout the day, with 3-4 patients at a time.
• Nursing duties include patient assessments, lab checks, treatment release, IV/Port/PICC access, administration of chemotherapy/immunotherapy/fluids, patient monitoring, and discharge.
• The team typically includes 5+ nurses (including a float nurse) and 1-2 medical assistants.
• Equipment used: Epic EMR (including Beacon), Rovers for medication scanning, Alaris pumps.

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or ONCC Chemotherapy Certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required.
• Experience specifically in outpatient oncology and chemotherapy infusion.
• Skills in chemotherapy/immunotherapy infusions and injections, IV insertion, port-a-cath access.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, collaboration, and time management skills.
• Experience with Epic/Beacon charting system required.

Additional Information

• Traveler must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility.
• No weekend, holiday, float, or on-call requirements.
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed).
