Location: Kane, Pennsylvania

Job Overview

Under the direction of the RN Supervisor, the LPN Wing Supervisor implements the medical plan of care and oversees Nursing Assistants' care of residents and high school students to ensure resident care aligns with good nursing practice and state/federal regulations. The ideal candidate is passionate about daily interaction with residents.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and document medications, treatments, and monitoring (e.g., glucose checks) as ordered
  • Transcribe physician’s orders accurately
  • Complete monthly summaries and update care plans with Nursing Assistants
  • Notify RN Supervisor immediately of significant changes in resident condition
  • Communicate resident transfers to family and department heads
  • Assist physicians with rounds, examinations, and treatments
  • Collect and document laboratory specimens and arrange delivery to hospital
  • Supervise post-mortem procedures and notify department heads of resident deaths
  • Encourage resident participation in scheduled activities
  • Assist RN Supervisor with annual evaluations and staff commendations/counseling
  • Complete incident reports and assist team members as needed
  • Document weights, vital signs, and follow up on discrepancies
  • Maintain treatment trays, narcotics counts, and inventory of resident belongings
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment; report safety hazards
  • Supervise and direct Nursing Assistants to ensure prescribed care plans are followed
  • Assist in orientation of new nursing staff and adjust staffing assignments as needed
  • Conduct team conferences and ensure staff familiarity with policy changes
  • Monitor Nursing Assistant documentation and job performance for compliance
  • Provide direct resident care within scope of practice
  • Attend in-services, department, staff, and committee meetings
  • Assist CNAs on the hall as needed

Dress Code

  • Any colored scrubs
  • Clean, well-maintained shoes (no open-toe sandals)
  • Clean hair
  • Cardigans or vests of any color allowed
  • No large or dangling earrings or necklaces
  • No heavy perfumes
  • Name tags worn daily
  • No short or jogging pants

Physical Demands

  • Good physical health and mental alertness to perform job functions timely
  • Ability to pass employment physicals
  • Knowledge of good body mechanics
  • Physician permission to perform duties if on transitional duty
  • Must be free of communicable diseases

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • Current Pennsylvania LPN license or temporary work permit required at time of interview
  • COVID vaccine preferred but not required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care of residents, equipment use and care, observation techniques, and nursing theory application
  • Willingness to comply with regulations, policies, procedures, and institutional philosophy
  • Courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors, and co-workers
  • Awareness of cost containment and efficient use of time and equipment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directives
  • Strong communication and observation skills
