Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700)
Call: Required as needed
Float: Required
Holiday: Every other holiday required (no holiday RTO accepted)

Unit & Job Details

• Bed Side Shift Reporting (BSSR), AIDET utilization, and hourly rounding required for all RN units.
• Barcode scanning compliance must be at least 95% to be eligible for contract extension; less than 95% may result in cancellation.
• The unit is a blended med/surg and PCU unit with occasional ICU/PCU patients. RN will care for all acuity types.
• 2 years of RN experience in med/surg required with a solid PCU foundation.
• Charge nurse experience preferred but not required.
• First-time travelers accepted.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years RN experience in med/surg and PCU.
• Current Wisconsin State RN License or Compact License.
• BLS certification required.
• Additional certifications preferred or required depending on unit (see Certifications below).

Certifications & Competencies

• Required:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • Wisconsin State RN License (Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start)
• Preferred/Unit Specific:

  • ACLS (for ICU, Tele, ER, etc.)
  • PALS (for PICU, PACU, Pediatric ER)
  • NRP (Nursery, NICU, L&D, Peds ICU)
  • TNCC and/or ENPC (for ER/ED)
  • Competency exams (unit-specific, must score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for Tele, Stepdown, PCU, ICU, IMC, ER)
  • Color Blind Testing (required within 1 year of start)

Background & Verification

• Background check within 90 days of start including:

  • State searches for all states lived in last 3 years
  • FACIS Level III
  • National Sex Offender Registry
  • CCAP search (criminal background)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification required for highest level of education (Associate degree or higher preferred).
• Work history verification for 7 years with explanations for gaps.
• References: Two required, including one supervisor-level reference from the last year.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Fit mask (N95) within 1 year, renewed annually.
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON, T-Spot, or 2-step skin test) within 12 months.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination.
• Drug test within 90 days prior to start (10-panel including marijuana).
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption during flu season (Sept-April).
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred or approved exemption.

Facility Specific Requirements

• Photo for badge (chest up, solid background, no others in photo).
• Completion of facility surveys (ReadySet) prior to clearance.
• Completion of Wisconsin BID form within 48 hours of booking (must be fully completed and accurate).
• Hazardous Drug Baseline Questionnaire if assigned to certain specialties or oncology units.

Additional Notes

• Holiday time off requests (RTO) are not accepted; every other holiday is required per system policy.
• Call and float responsibilities are part of the role.
• Barcode scanning compliance is critical for contract continuation.

This position is ideal for RNs with med/surg and PCU experience looking for a travel contract in Wisconsin with night shifts and a blended acuity patient population.
