Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Winfield, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years nursing experience; previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Licensure: Kansas RN license or compact license (no pending applications)
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Weekend Coverage: Every third weekend required

Job Description

• Work in a Critical Access hospital setting
• Support after the second shift
• Skills required:

  • Assist with sterile speculum exam, NST (Non-Stress Test), reflex checks, sterile vaginal exam, EFM (External Fetal Monitoring)
  • IV insertion and medication administration
• Labor & Delivery management including:

  • High-risk and vaginal deliveries
  • Forceps/vacuum-assisted deliveries
  • C-sections
  • Neonatal and newborn care
  • Pain management and postpartum care
  • Surgical cases such as cervical cerclage

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation
• Residency declaration form if working on a compact license
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal history check (all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
  • Social Security trace
  • County and nationwide checks
  • Sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check (updated every contract renewal)
  • HHS/OIG check (updated every contract renewal)
• Education verification and transcripts/diploma for highest level of education
• State-specific exclusion checks (Kansas Medicaid exclusion list)

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS, BLS, NRP certifications as required by unit standards
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) not required for Labor and Delivery
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as required
• State license primary source verification
• NURSYS verification for all RNs
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
• Competency exams as required
• Annual OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training or attestation
• Orientation and safety manual acknowledgement

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Initial physical exam, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening:

  • 9-panel or 10-panel drug screen within the last 12 months
• Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required year-round (declination accepted for medical/religious reasons)
• COVID-19 vaccinations or exemptions no longer required; declination form needed if not vaccinated

History & Performance Documentation

• Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
• Performance evaluations if worked with the agency/facility for over 1 year
• Complete employment application/resume
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
• Internal evaluations preferred if worked over 2 years with the agency
