Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialist
Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Shift
- Schedule: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts
- Shift Hours: 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience with PSG (Polysomnography) and home sleep study scoring
- Certifications:
- RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist)
- RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner)
- California State License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
- Flu vaccination mandatory (no declination or exemption allowed)
- First-time travelers are welcome (prior travel experience NOT required)
Preferred Qualifications
- EEG certification
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Work under direct clinical supervision of the sleep medicine physician
- Prepare and conduct sleep studies, including polysomnogram scoring
- Manage home sleep study logistics, including setup and scoring of home sleep testing devices
- Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to meet patient-specific needs
- Determine final testing parameters/procedures in collaboration with ordering physician or clinical director
- Explain procedures and orient patients for sleep testing
- Select and calibrate appropriate equipment; apply electrodes and sensors according to standards
- Perform data acquisition and monitor study quality, identify and document artifacts
- Document observations such as sleep stages, clinical events, and procedural changes
- Provide patient education and instructions related to sleep testing
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including criminal history and education verification
- Proof of highest medical degree (diploma or transcript)
- Various certifications and competency exams may be required depending on role specifics
- Fit mask test within 12 months (for clinical/allied candidates)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Drug testing within 1 year
- Annual flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) with no exemptions allowed
- Professional references: 2 required, including 1 supervisory reference
