Registered Nurse (PICU) - Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse
• Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Weekends: Rotating
• Call: Not required
• Floating: Yes, may float to Pediatrics and NICU if census is low
• EMR System: Allscripts/Paragon
• State License: Louisiana State or Compact RN license required
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of PICU nursing experience preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Additional Requirements

• Background check: 7-year criminal history check within a year of start, updated annually
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and conscious sedation (for PICU)
• Annual completion of orientation safety manual and skills checklist
• Compliance with facility-specific policies and documentation (dress code, confidentiality agreements, onboarding exams, TB questionnaire, vaccine exemption forms)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within last 12 months
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions must be submitted for review

• Locals are accepted for this travel/contract position
• Floating to Pediatrics and NICU may be required based on census
