Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Los Angeles, California

Job Summary

• Deliver coordinated nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and nursing process.
• Supervise and direct activities of nursing staff at various levels.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines using critical thinking, professional judgment, and supervisory discretion.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide learning opportunities and health information to patients, families, and team members.
• Delegate and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Acute care facility experience preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California required.

Certifications Required

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or HeartCode ACLS certification.

Additional Preferred Certifications (may be required depending on unit)

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
• NIH Stroke Certification

Competency Exams (required, usually through Relias)

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Color Blind Testing (minimum 80% score)
• General Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual update required)
• Conscious Sedation Competency Exam

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 90 days of start.
• Fit mask testing (N95 preferred).
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or positive titer (declinations accepted).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start; annual updates required.
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug testing within 30 days before start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination/exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 30).
• COVID-19 vaccination series completed or approved medical/religious exemption; seasonal booster highly recommended or required depending on location.

Background & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start covering last 7 years.
• Employment application/resume with 7-year work history.
• Two clinical references verified within a year of start.
• Unit-specific skills checklist.
• Current driver's license or state ID.
• Photo for badge (passport style, high resolution, no filters).
• Signed job description and code of conduct prior to start.
• Completion of contractor compliance education and confidentiality agreements.

Organizational Requirements

• All associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment; medical and religious exemptions may apply.
• Participation in E-Verify is required.
