Travel/Contract ICU Registered Nurse

Location: South Bend, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: ICU/CCU Registered Nurse
• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Call Requirement: Yes (if not needed in ICU, will float to other areas as needed)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Unit: Mixed ICU (Medical ICU and Surgical ICU)
• Patient Population: Trauma patients, post open-heart surgery patients
• Unit Size: 24 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Level of Care: Level 2 Trauma Center, Stroke/Thrombectomy certified center
• Charting System: Cerner
• Dress Code: Royal Blue or White scrubs; under scrubs can be black, white, or gray
• Locals Accepted: No, travelers must live at least 50 miles away from the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 and Level 2 Trauma patients
• CCU (Coronary Care Unit) experience
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Indiana

Background and Health Requirements

• Background check covering last 7 years, including all states lived/worked in
• Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts
• Physical exam
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold accepted, T-Spots not accepted)
• TB questionnaire prior to start and annually thereafter
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start (flu documentation must be on file by December 15)
• COVID vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete facility-specific modules (~8-10 hours) prior to start; paid for completion
• Background checks and health documents must be current and meet facility standards
• On-site EKG exam required for competency verification

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs comfortable with trauma and cardiac critical care in a fast-paced, level 2 trauma center environment working night shifts.
