Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Work in a CVICU setting with alternating 3x12 hour day and night shifts, including weekdays and weekends.
• Patient ratio approximately 1:2, based on acuity; may include overflow patients requiring step-down level care.
• Must have experience with:

  • Direct fresh open-heart admissions from OR
  • Cardiac surgery skills
  • Pressure monitoring and Swan-Ganz catheter management
  • Impella device monitoring
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Activated Clotting Time (ACT)
• Experience in pressure monitoring
• Experience in Swan-Ganz catheter management
• Experience in Impella device monitoring
• Experience in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Cardiac surgery skills

Schedule Details

• Blocked schedules considered only if requesting weekends only (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)
• Scrubs not provided

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Proof of RN license verification
• Minimum 2 clinical/manager references within past 2 years
• Specialty-specific skills checklist
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education verification and transcript/diploma (required for Cath Lab RNs)
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, preferred)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination
  • Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Color blind testing and competency exams as applicable
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules and Cerner training prior to orientation
• ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys completed prior to start
• Compliance with facility-specific forms including confidentiality agreements and parking pass

Additional Notes

• Must have ACT (Activated Clotting Time) experience
• Candidates must have all required certifications on file prior to start; no pending certifications allowed
• Cerner EMR training modules are mandatory and tracked by the facility
• Stroke education CEUs (8 hours annually) required for certain units including CVICU
• References and employment application must be complete and submitted
