Job Details

• Unit Schedule:

  • No straight 3x12 schedules available.
  • Options: alternating 3x12s and 4x12s every other week, or straight 4x12s.

• Patient Population:

  • General Medical-Surgical (MS)
  • Diabetes
  • Renal Insufficiency
  • Some Overnight Orthopedics
  • Vascular Insufficiency
  • Wound Care Patients
  • Backup support for Stroke Unit

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:

  • 1:6 (1:4 if cardiac drip)

• Weekend Requirement: Yes

• Call Requirement: No

• Float: Yes

• Holiday Requirement: At least 2 of 3 holidays

• Special Equipment:

  • Alaris Pumps
  • Vital Sync Monitors

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing, with experience within the last year
• Experience working with Pediatric, Neonate, Infant, and Maternal-Fetal patients
• Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with telemetry monitoring
• Experience working with Epic electronic health record system
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Requirements

• Appearance: Navy blue scrubs or combination with white
• Return to Office (RTO): Less than 5 days or add time to end of contract

Compliance and Documentation

• Background checks and verifications required, including but not limited to:

  • Social Security Trace
  • Nationwide and local criminal background checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer proof
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or titer proof
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (required Oct 1 – Mar 31, with exemptions accepted)
• Competency exams required annually, including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG
  • Core competencies (Parts I, II, III)

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Candidates must have at least 2 years of specialty experience in MS/Telemetry.
• CPI certification can be completed onsite if not already held.

This position offers a dynamic MS/Telemetry nursing role with a variety of patient populations and requires strong telemetry and dysrhythmia management skills. The schedule offers flexibility with alternating or straight 12-hour shifts.
