Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Omaha, Nebraska

Job Details
Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years
- Cardiac ICU experience
- Pediatric experience
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Unit Information:
- Average daily census: 21 patients
- Beds: 32
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
Patient Diagnoses:
- Post-op open heart surgery
- Single ventricles
- Complex cardiac anatomy/physiology
- Heart transplant
- Heart failure
Special Procedures / Unit Details:
- Invasive cardiac monitoring (CVP, ART, RA, etc.)
- ECMO & CRRT exposure or experience preferred
- Use of vasopressors, cardiac drips, sedation drips
Contract Length:
- 13 weeks
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
- Nebraska DHHS Adult & Child Services Registry Search (within 30 days of start)
Certifications Verification
- ACLS, BLS, PALS (AHA only)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as applicable
- Tech Certification verification within 30 days of start
- State nursing license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% or higher required)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Unit Competency Exam
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN)
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required)
- Tdap vaccine required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start
- TB questionnaire if past positive TB test (within 6 weeks of start)
- MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions allowed with proper documentation
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or completed vaccine series required; no declinations allowed
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of disease; exemptions allowed with documentation
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 12 months prior to start
- Seasonal flu vaccine required for new starts beginning 10/1/2025 or approved exemption on file by 11/30/2025
Additional Documentation
- 2 professional references within 2 years of start
- Employment application (pulled from system, no 7-year work history needed)
- Annual skills checklist update required
Important Notes
- The Cognito Form must be fully completed by both candidate and clinical lead at least 6 business days before start date to avoid start delays.
- Flu vaccine exemptions must be documented on facility-specific forms and signed by appropriate healthcare or religious authorities.
- All background checks, certifications, and health documents must be current and compliant before start date.
