Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU/MS/Tele)
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse

- First-time Travelers Accepted: Yes
- Weekend Shifts: 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Regular floating within scope may be required between departments, units, and facilities
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Orientation (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days
- Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length)
Patient Population / Special Requirements
Primary patients include those who have undergone:
- Bariatric surgery
- Urology cases (e.g., TURP, TURBT with CBI, nephrectomy, ileal conduit creation, nephroureterectomy)
- Hepatobiliary surgeries (e.g., Whipple, liver resection, gastric stimulator, complex biliary cases)
- Colorectal surgeries (e.g., colon resection, ostomy creation and takedown, surgical oncology)
- Trauma patients, especially abdominal injuries
- Necrotizing soft tissue infections requiring serial debridement with Wound Vac changes
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only (may be required depending on unit)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only (if applicable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA or AAP (if applicable)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) (if applicable)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) (if applicable)
- MAB or CPI (Management of Assaultive Behavior / Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)
- IV Certification (for LPN/LVN if applicable)
- Other unit-specific certifications as required
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Missouri (NURSYS verification required)
- Pending licenses accepted
- Primary source verification of professional license required
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty
- Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 12 months for certain units
- Oncology competency exam required for Med Surg-Oncology Unit (if applicable)
Background Checks & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required quarterly
- Education verification of highest nursing education required (cannot pend at start)
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable (Missouri and Illinois)
- Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
- Color Blind Testing required within 12 months of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules via WorkRamp prior to start (approx. 16 hours)
- Required to sign HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy, and other compliance documents annually
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Various facility-specific forms and questionnaires required prior to start

- Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible for this travel assignment
