Job Description

• Position: Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Nuc Med Tech)
• Responsibilities typically include performing nuclear medicine procedures, imaging, and related patient care in radiology and cardiology settings.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA Healthcare Provider required for all clinical positions
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred but not required for pediatric ER; required for ER & PACU RNs (may be relevant depending on assignment)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for PICU, PCCU, ER, Peds ER, & Pediatrics; not required for NICU
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU (AAP/AHA approved)
• Tech Cert Verification - National: Required as applicable (e.g., CBSPD or IAHCSMM for sterile techs)
• State License Verification: Primary source verification required
• Additional certifications may be required depending on specific unit or facility needs

Compliance & Background Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required (may start pending)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable (passing score 80%+)
• Competency exam required as applicable (passing score 80%+)
• 2 professional references required (Charge RN or above preferred)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (required for Aya placements)
• Fit mask test within 6 months of start (specific mask types accepted)
• Tdap vaccine within years of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility policy (updated every 2 years if on assignment longer than 1 year)
• Annual TB questionnaire for Aya placements
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 6 months of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct-April 1)
• COVID vaccines preferred but not required as of 5/29/2024
• Respirator clearance or facility-specific respirator clearance form required (updated annually or every 2 years depending on placement type)

Facility Specific Requirements

• Candidate must review and sign orientation guide, confidentiality agreement, and other facility policies (e.g., dress and grooming standards, harassment-free workplace, IT acceptable use policy)
• Completion of facility-specific orientation post-test prior to start
• Completion of non-employee personal information sheet
• Submission of medical or religious influenza exemption forms if applicable
