Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (SICU) - Florida, Melbourne

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU experience required)
• Location: Melbourne, Florida
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Shift Ratios: 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (unit dependent)
• Float Requirement: Yes, traveler will have a home base but may float to other units or locations within the system
• On-call: No
• Block Scheduling: Depends on unit needs
• First-timers: Not accepted (prior travel experience required)
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (first-timers not accepted)

Experience & Certifications

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU)
• EPIC Experience: Required
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Licensing: Florida State or compact license required at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)

Work Requirements & Conditions

• References: Two professional references from authority figures (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) within the last year required
• Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
• Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours guaranteed
• Parking: Free with decal provided at orientation

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background checks including Social Security Trace, Education Verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and others required within specified timeframes
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
• Education verification required; certain institutions are not accepted
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start required
• Fit mask test required within 12 months prior to start (strict shaving policy, no PAPR alternative)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start required
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start required
• Immunization titers required for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (within 5 years)
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Must submit all required facility-specific documents including photo for badge, insurance (if applicable), and facility attestation forms
• Compliance with facility-specific health and safety protocols is mandatory

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro ICU/Surgical ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience, who hold the required certifications and licenses, and are comfortable with floating and weekend shifts.
