Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Pain Management / Interventional Radiology
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Pain Management / Interventional Radiology
- Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (No block scheduling)
- Call Requirements:
- On-call rotation Monday-Friday, 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Weekends and holidays on-call 24 hours, rotated among all nurses
- No holidays off except for on-call
- Occasional weekend day shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) required
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Return to Office (RTO):
- Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days
- No RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
- Floating: Mandatory floating within scope to Radiology and Pain departments as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Additional Requirements: Staff required to wear lead aprons
Experience & Certifications
- Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2+ years as an RN
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (must be updated annually)

Licensure & Local Candidates
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Local candidates accepted and preferred (within 75 miles)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Illinois Health Care Worker Registry search (not required for RNs)
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 1)
Competency Exams (Required within 12 months of start)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (for starts after 1/16/24)
- General Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (preferred for ER RNs)
