Job Opportunity: Pediatric Stepdown Registered Nurse
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with pediatric cardiac stepdown experience to provide specialized care for patients with cardiac defects, both medical and surgical. The role involves managing patients post-cardiac surgery and supporting advanced respiratory and cardiac care.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown nursing
- Experience with:
- Trachs and ventilators
- High flow nasal cannula
- Post-operative catheter care
- Post-operative care after Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU)
- Inotropes administration
- Care for heart and lung transplant patients
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Current Ohio RN license in hand
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU RNs
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – if applicable
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – if applicable
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Two professional references required (one must be a manager or supervisor; peer references not accepted)
- Current government-issued photo ID matching legal name on license and certifications
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start, updated for each new contract
- Drug screening within 60 days prior to start (9-panel, including fentanyl and methadone)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year, with additional requirements if positive
- Required immunizations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Influenza (seasonal flu vaccine required Oct-May; exemptions reviewed)
- N95 fit testing within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Infection Control Policy, and others prior to start
Additional Information
- Must not reside within 60 miles of the facility if holding an Ohio driver’s license (to avoid being considered local)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually
