Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Mixed acuity unit caring for advanced care level patients requiring experience with advanced care drips.
• Experience with advanced care/step-down units preferred.
• Target patient ratios typically 1:4, can be up to 1:5-6.
• Unit may use a team nursing model partnering RNs, LPNs, and PCTs to improve workload and patient care. Nurses may function in team or primary nursing roles.
• Must float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units within the hospital system. Floating may include multiple nearby campuses within 15 miles.
• No block scheduling; 36 or 48-hour shifts accepted. Overtime paid after 48 hours.
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
• No local candidates accepted; no travel partners allowed.
• No more than 7 days of Return to Office (RTO) will be approved.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
• Experience working in advanced care/step-down units prior to assignment, including experience with advanced care level drips
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification

Certifications & Training

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (annual update required)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam
• Unit-specific competency exam

Floating & Scheduling

• Must float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units and possibly other campuses within 15 miles.
• Floating assignments will be medically appropriate and support the nursing care team.
• Must be available for every other weekend and holiday shifts.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months prior to start.
• E-Verify required per contract.
• Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness to work and free of communicable diseases.
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray required; annual TB questionnaire if past positive.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series, immune titer, or declination).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months prior to start, including marijuana panel. Random drug screening during orientation week may be required.
• Respiratory safety clearance required within 1 year of start and renewed annually.
• Medical questionnaire for respiratory protection must be submitted prior to orientation.

Documentation & Verification

• Current resume or employment application required.
• Two professional references within 2 years required; one must be a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse. Employment verification accepted if references unavailable.
• Skills checklist updated within 1 year prior to documentation due date.
• Education verification required for non-RN candidates (not applicable here).
• Ohio licensure primary source verification required.
• NURSYS verification required for RN license.

• Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives.
• No holiday Return to Office (RTO) accepted.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with advanced care and telemetry patients, flexible with floating assignments, and able to work night shifts on a travel contract basis.
