Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; total 36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
• Work schedule: 3 nights per week, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
• Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year.
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current BLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable).
• Pass baseline competency exams during orientation:

  • Medication administration exam (SafeMedicate) with a 90% passing score.
  • ECG rhythm recognition exam with an 80% passing score.
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, CNOR, CHEMO, NIH Stroke) are not required for this position.

Licensure & Background Checks

• Must have a valid Ohio RN license or Compact State license verified by primary source within 30 days of start.
• Background check required prior to assignment start and must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09.
• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask (N95) test within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs not provided for facial hair failure unless approved exemption.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required with official documentation:

  • Tdap (every 10 years, no declinations accepted).
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed.
  • Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemption.
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required annually (no declinations accepted; exemptions require agency approval).
• Drug screen (standard 10 panel) within 12 months, updated annually; instant drug screens not accepted.
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Medication and ECG competency exams completed during orientation with required passing scores.
• PBDS Assessment waived for this position.

Additional Requirements

• Must submit 2 professional references from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and verifications prior to or at orientation.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since their last assignment at this health system may be exempt from some orientation exams and training.
• Facility requires compliance with all health, safety, and credentialing standards to maintain assignment eligibility.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or Compact States seeking a 13-week travel contract with night shifts.
