Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IMC) - Travel/Contract

Location: Escondido, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts


Job Summary

  • Position is for a Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care (IMC) unit.
  • Float between two hospitals may be required.
  • Call and weekend shifts may be required.
  • Backfill for a Registered Nurse position.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the unit (Intermediate Care or similar).

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • California RN License at time of submission.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • Must pass a Telemetry test at orientation (2 attempts allowed).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) but BLS and CA RN license are mandatory.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check including county, national, sex offender, and federal databases.
  • Employment and licensing verifications (NURSYS verification required).
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days prior to start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP.
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including TB test, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and flu vaccination or declination.
  • HIPAA and safety training acknowledgements.
  • Photo for badge with white background required prior to start.

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Must be able to pass pass/fail arrhythmia exam prior to start.
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years from a manager, supervisor, or charge RN.
  • Skills checklist must be updated annually.
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies and training is mandatory.

Work Environment

  • Night shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.
  • May require floating between hospitals.
  • Call and weekend shifts may be required.

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of IMC experience, who is licensed in California and comfortable working night shifts with flexibility for floating and call duties.
