NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Dallas, Texas
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (NICU)
- Location: Dallas, Texas
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 to 7:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Prior travel nursing experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Job Requirements and Expectations
- Must wear navy blue scrubs
- May be required to work on-call, weekends, holidays, and floating shifts
- Floating assignments may include Post Partum unit if needed
Certifications and Competencies
- NRP required for NICU
- BLS required
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) — verify based on specific unit job description
- Must pass:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80%, two attempts allowed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam if applicable (two attempts allowed)
- Competency exams must be completed within 30 days of start
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test (TSpot or QGold) within 12 months; annual TB questionnaire required if previously positive
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity (or appropriate exemptions) for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series and positive titer or signed declination form)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no rapid screens)
- Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation; updated annually
Documentation and Background Checks
- Valid government-issued photo ID (passport acceptable in lieu of driver’s license)
- I9 or attestation required
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Background checks within 30 days of start including:
- 7-year county criminal background check for all locations lived/worked
- Sex offender search
- State police investigation for behavioral health roles (if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Two professional references within the last 3 years required
- Passport-style photo for badge
