Job Summary
Seeking an ICU Registered Nurse for a surgical oncology ICU floor that also includes a Medical ICU (MICU) unit. The unit focuses on thoracic surgeries, skin flaps, chest tube management, and esophagectomies. Dialysis patients are managed using Tablo. The team includes pharmacy, radiology, rapid response, respiratory, social services, and unit secretary support. Provider coverage includes Intensivist, Nurse Practitioner, CRNA, Anesthesiologist, and Hospitalist.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Weekends as needed
- ICU nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- Float within competency areas possible (MICU ratio 1:4)
- Orientation: 12 hours on the floor
- Average daily census: 12 patients
- 21 rooms, 25 beds
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year ICU experience within the last year
- Trauma Level II facility experience
- ACLS certification
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC or fundamental course for ICU)
- State License 1 Verification
- NURSYS Verification
- Experience managing chronic and acute renal failure
- Experience with continuous venovenous hemodialysis (CVVHD/CRRT)
- Skilled in accessing ports and blood product administration
- Central line and PICC line care/management
- Ability to start IVs and manage continuous IV sedation
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Assistance with chest tube insertion and removal
- Trauma experience
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA provider or instructor; no HeartCode)
- BLS (AHA provider or instructor)
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC or fundamental course for ICU)

- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure management
- Chronic and acute renal failure care
- Continuous venovenous hemodialysis (CVVHD/CRRT)
- Accessing ports and blood product administration
- Central line and PICC line care/management
- Starting IVs and continuous IV sedation
- Emergency medication administration
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Chemotherapy administration
- Assistance with chest tube insertion/removal
- Care of ventilated patients including HFNC
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Suctioning (endotracheal tube, nasotracheal)
- Ventilator management
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE use
- Phlebotomy
- Surgical wound care with drains and wound vac
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU experience
- FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring
- Obtaining 12-lead EKGs
- Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) care
- ECMO, intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella device management
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan-Ganz monitoring
- Ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD)
- IV insulin protocols
- Arterial line management
- Continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade
- Procedural sedation administration
- Stroke (CVA) and acute stroke management
- External ventricular drains (EVD)
- Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
- Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
- Lumbar drains
- Management of BiPAP and CPAP

Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID
- Background checks including social security trace, nationwide, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification
- Primary source verification of state nursing license
- NURSYS verification
- Physical exam within last 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Immunizations: Tdap, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination
- COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including marijuana)
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, sedation, etc.)
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
