ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Worcester, MA

Job Details

• Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Unit: Medical ICU (Cardiac Surgery ICU experience needed)
• Charting System: Epic
• Scheduling: Based on unit needs; no block schedules available
• Float Requirement: May be required to float to other adult ICUs as needed
• Holiday Requirement: Work every 3rd holiday

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID required
• Massachusetts Statewide (iCORI) Release required
• 7-year Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start (including SSN trace, county search, national criminal search, and other verifications)
• Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if electronic verification unavailable; diplomas not accepted)
• State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions
• Drug testing within 30 days prior to start (includes multiple substance panels)
• TB screening: Two PPDs or equivalent testing within required timeframes; chest x-ray if positive TB history
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • COVID-19 (including declination if applicable)
  • Flu (seasonal vaccine or declination required during flu season)
  • Hepatitis B
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
• Additional facility-specific health screenings and questionnaires (e.g., TB questionnaire)
• References: Two references within the last three years
• Employment application must include 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable (e.g., medication test/pharmacology competency, EKG/dysrhythmia competency)

Important Notes

• Medication and Telemetry exams required for RNs working in telemetry units; only one attempt allowed to pass Telemetry exam at orientation
• Candidates must pass required exams with minimum scores on the first day of orientation to avoid cancellation
• Candidates may be required to complete additional certifications or training modules onsite or via assigned platforms
• Background check hits require compliance attestation and may trigger pre-adverse action processes
• No annual background check required by client, but annual background check required for direct hire candidates by the staffing agency
• Facility does not accommodate block scheduling; scheduling is flexible based on unit needs
