Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Call requirement: 1 weekend every 4 weeks and 2-3 nights per week
- Must be able to scrub cases
- Pediatric cath lab experience not required; adult-only cath lab experience is acceptable
- 2 years of cath lab experience required
- Only accepting first-time travelers with more than 10 years of experience
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Ohio RN license (or applicable state license for cath lab techs)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certification only
Required Qualifications
- 2 supervisory/professional references required at time of submission (1 must be from a supervisor or manager; charge RN acceptable for one reference)
- Must be able to scrub cases in the cath lab
- Prior pediatric cath lab experience is not required
- Must have 2 years of cath lab experience
- First-time travelers must have over 10 years of experience
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing (temporary IDs not accepted)
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and updated for each new contract
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required (highest degree verified through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent)
- Sex offender search and state-specific searches (Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Abuse Registry) required within 30 days of start
- Drug screen (9-panel) negative result within 60 days prior to start
- Annual background check required for direct candidates; new background check required if gap of 30+ days between assignments
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (facility accepts signed Infection Control Policy in lieu of physical copy)
- N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- TB testing options: 2 PPDs or QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months; additional requirements if positive
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start (vaccine must be after age 11)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity required via positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination required
- Varicella immunity required via positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
- Seasonal flu vaccine required between October 31 and May 31; medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
- TB questionnaire and fingerprint screening questions must be completed prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually
- Copy of resume or employment application required
Notes
- All certifications must have the candidate’s legal name exactly as on license (no nicknames or typos)
- Screenshots or photos of certifications and immunizations are not accepted
- Fingerprinting results may pend at start if facility completes onsite, but appointment must be completed before clearance
- Candidates with positive TB or drug screen results may require additional documentation or may be disqualified
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced cath lab techs with strong scrubbing skills and a willingness to work a 4x10 day shift schedule with call responsibilities.
